Could Freeview get more channels?

hd_ready_logo.jpgThe great thing about Freeview is that once you've paid your telly licence, there are a lot of channels that you don't need to pay extra to get. But the trouble is that the selection is limited compared to offerings from Sky or Virgin. But that could all change as Ofcom has new proposals that could increase the number of channels available on digital terrestrial television and perhaps even herald that proper start of high-defition television without a satellite or cable in sight.

 

BBC gets HDTV green light

hd_ready_logo.jpgFollowing what must have been a successful trial, the BBC has been given the green light to start broadcasting channels in high-definition. The plans were finally approved by the BBC Trust following a Public Value Test.

Archos TV+This week’s Christmas-themed event also saw us get our hands on Archos’ wi-fi portable media player for the first time. The 704 WiFi PMP was launched back in April costing £399.99 for the 80GB version and £329.99 for the 40GB version, which isn’t bad for something that can watch any movies stored on your PC’s hard drive. But what really caught our attention was the wi-fi box sitting underneath it.
