Laptops are getting cheaper all the time, but are they
so cheap that you think the manufacturer is cutting corners. Advent
hopes that with a Dual Core Intel chip and two gig of Ram under the bonnet, this thought
would be the furthest from your mind.

OK,
so you wouldn't want to play Crysys on this laptop, but we do think
that a lappie that can do a bit of emailing and looking up stuff on the
internet while watching Location, Location, Location is by and large a
good idea, but does the Asus eee PC 900 fit the bill? More to the point
can you live with these devices?

Tuesday, 10 June 2008 Laptops used to be real luxury items at one time, but along with the
mobile phone they have become smaller, cheaper and more democratised.
And this is a good thing as you can pick up a good spec'd notebook
cheap as chips. But, it the quest to hit that low-priced sweet spot,

price tag.

Everyone's
worried that someone, somewhere will be trying to hack their laptop and
steal their identify. Of course you need to be careful but for a lot of
people, all those security applications running on a modest computer do
eat up resources and wasn't really why you bought the thing in the
first place. Israeli security company Yoggie aims to change that with a little dongle that will do the security dirty work instead.

Sunday, 16 December 2007 We at Absolute Gadget are as happy as the proverbial Larry when our phones, MP3 players and general gadgety stuff gets smaller with each iteration, but nowhere is this process more annoying than in the laptop world. Far from becoming standard, it's still the case that the smaller the laptop the more you'll pay, with some UMPCs (Ultra Mobile PCs) costing up to two grand.

There is a lot that can be said about DSL routers that allow you to
surf the internet while you are out in the garden so can Belkin's N1
Wireless Modem Router allow you to watch HD video at the bottom of the vegetable patch?

Sunday, 12 August 2007 After the launch of the much-hyped UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC) last year, many of us were left distinctly unimpressed. It was too large, slow and wasn't anywhere near as cheap as Microsoft had hinted at. Thankfully, some good has come from its introduction...

Monday, 28 May 2007 An iGo Stowaway keyboard came into the offices here the other day and we thought that the best way of reviewing the device was to write this review on it.
