Review: Canon Pixma MP560

Nowadays if you want a printer that stands out from the crowd there aren't many options. Sure you can scan but every printer just about does that. Printers have to perform better, lower cost of ownership or offer extra features to draw attention to itself. The Canon MP560, while a refresh of previous models, manages to get two out of three right.

While all-in-one printer, scanner, copiers are ubiquitous but necessary if you don't want to fill up your office with loads of equipment. This is ever more true when you need a fax machine and answer phone to boot. Brother with its MFC-990CW all-in-one printer aims to do all this and make the tea as well (OK we lied about the last one).

If anything can be said about the MP610, it would be that the printer was well-loved and well-received by all those who reviewed and owned it. But can the same be said about its replacement, the MP630.

Printers can be ten-a-penny nowadays, we mean by that devices that just print are really cheap. The multifunction ones are a little bit more expensive. But Canon has managed to punt out a multifunction printer in the form of its MP540 unit for under £70 and seemingly without skimping on features.

This new printer from Canon is sat firmly in the middle of its Pixma range and purports to scan, copy and print. Heck, there's even a card reader and a PictBridge port. Break out the champagne.
