Sky logoYou don't have to have a Sky satellite dish clamped to the side of your house to get some of the broadcaster's channels - Sky News, Sky Sports News and Sky Three are all available on Freeview. But if Sky has its way, they could be replaced with the premium Sky One, Sky Sports 1 and Sky Movies 1 channels. For a fee, of course...

85 per cent of UK homes now have digital telly

lg_lcd_tv_small.jpgWe can't believe that anyone would really want to buy an old analogue set with the impeding digital switchover months away (okay, months if you are a sheep farmer in Cumbria). The group behind making sure that we all have tellies that do more than show a blizzard come 2012 has unveiled a set of measures to increase the supply of digital televisions and set-top boxes ahead of the switchover.

Xbox Live bags BBC content?

Xbox 360It looks like Microsoft's Xbox Live television and movie download service might finally be ready to jump the pond (not the shark, thankfully). Already a big hit in the US where gamers pay Microsoft Points to download films and TV episodes, it could launch with a load of BBC content over here.
