USB goes wireless with new Belkin hub

USB hubs are great things for plugging in extra peripherals, but sometimes you don’t want trailing wires. The latest gadget from Belkin could signal the end of the wire.

The Belkin Cable-Free USB Hub, the industry’s first USB Hub that does
not require a cable to connect to the computer and should be available around mid-December.

The hub uses a technology called Ultra-Wideband (UWB), this allows you to put your laptop anywhere within thirty feet of the hub so you can print,
play music, scan, download photos, and burn CDs from anywhere in the vicinity.

It transfers data at speeds of up to 480Mbps for USB 2.0 devices and includes a 4-port Hub, a USB dongle (that connects into your computer),
and a Dongle stand to give you optimum wireless reception.

On the website it gives a price of $199.
