Apple paints its Nano Red for charidy, mate

iPod Nano (red)Apple has joined the (Product) RED initiative, which is designed to raise money to fight Aids in Africa. The company will sell a red aluminum version of its popular iPod Nano MP3 player to benefit the charity set up by Bono.

The iPod Nano (Product) RED Special Edition costs $199 (around £107), with $10 donated by Apple to the good cause.

Apple will also offer $25 iTunes (Product) RED gift cards in its stores and online next month.

The 4GB device has 24 hours of battery life and holds up to 1,000 songs (based on four minutes per song and 128Kbps encoding) or 25,000 photos (based on iPod-viewable photos transferred from iTunes).

The red Nano player can be ordered through the Apple website or in Apple stores.
