Apple's iPod family could be adding another memberAll the talk of Apple bringing its trademark good looks and usability to the mobile phone market has been just that so far – talk. But if Chinese-language newspaper the Commercial Times is to be believed, the phone will be on our shelves next year.

Apple might be remaining tight-lipped about the project but we’re finally getting some definitive details from the manufacturers.

Sources within Foxconn Electronics, which already makes components for the iPod, have told the newspaper that Foxconn has also won a contract to produce the iPhone.

That could see 12 million handsets flooding shops all over the planet in the first half of 2007.

That ties in with rumours that Apple is planning an official launch for the iPhone at the Macworld show in January.
