Nokia HF-300 SpeakerphoneSci-fi is in the air, with Kylie being confirmed as a star in the Christmas Doctor Who and Catherine Tate being signed up as his new assistant in the next series. Perhaps that’s why Nokia has gone a bit Blake’s Seven with the HF-300 Speakerphone.

The Nokia HF-300 is the company’s first ever speakerphone, which will cost around €90 (£61) excluding taxes when it is launched later this year.

An official Nokia press release described it as “stylish”, but to our eyes it looks like technology has followed the worlds of fashion and music and gone back to the 80s.

However, the Nokia Speakerphone HF-300 certainly has plenty of current technology up its sleeves.

The detachable Bluetooth speakerphone hosts a powerful speaker and microphone, with the audio quality being enhanced with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to cancel out excess noises and echoes.

It can operate on battery power, so you're not confined to using it with a power outlet – with a talk time of up to 20 hours.

“For those extended conversations, take this lightweight 80g speakerphone outside, into your home or office, and mount it to a surface with its rubber feet,” said the official Nokia statement.
If you are using it in the car, there’s a a sunvisor clip for easy positioning.

And there’s no need to worry about turning it off as the device knows when to use its auto power off after you stop talking.
Sci-fi fans around the world will be glad to hear the Nokia Speakerphone HF-300 will be available globally.
