Apple iPhoneApple’s iPhone finally goes on sale in the UK this Friday, at the extremely efficient time of 6:02pm. You can get your hands on one by visiting more than 1,300 Apple, O2 and Carphone Warehouse stores, or surfing to the online shops for those brands.

“iPhone combines three devices into one – a mobile phone, a widescreen iPod, and a breakthrough internet device,” said an Apple press release, clearly assuming some of you may have been living in a cave for the last year.

“It’s all based on Apple’s revolutionary multi-touch interface and pioneering software that allows users to control iPhone with just a tap, flick or pinch of their fingers.”

The devices will cost £269 (including VAT) with 8GB of storage and each iPhone requires a new 18-month contract with O2, on one of three tariffs starting at £35.

However, that includes free unlimited usage of the O2 mobile data network and free unlimited use of The Cloud Wi-Fi network in more than 7,500 cafes, restaurants, airport lounges, pubs and other locations across the UK.

“In another market first, O2’s iPhone data tariff will be truly unlimited with no fair usage cap,” the company said.

That offer means the handsets can surf the internet for personal use, but prohibits the iPhone being used as a data modem.
