BlackBerry devices are starting to lose their tag as merely a business phone, but no-one expects them to be the next mobile gaming device. No-one except Zeemote, that is.

Zeemote makes "intelligent wireless controllers for mobile devices" and will soon release the Zeemote software development kit (SDK) for BlackBerry smartphones.

That will allow BlackBerry developers to create mobile games that are compatible with Zeemote’s JS1 Controller.

The gamepad with then work with Research In Motion phones including the BlackBerry Curve
and the BlackBerry Pearl.

With a thumbstick and four assignable trigger buttons, the ergonomically designed Zeemote JS1 Controller (weighing just 47g/1.7oz) offers "real analogue control via Bluetooth, enabling users to truly engage with mobile games on the handset".

Already launched in European markets, the JS1 Controller has proven that mobile game play is dramatically enhanced by the portable thumbstick.

“The JS1 Controller is truly game-changing, allowing customers to play mobile games like never before, and in the process creating countless new opportunities for manufacturers, developers and operators,” said Jim Adams, Zeemote’s VP of worldwide marketing, sales and business development.
