Nokia’s answer to the
iPhone (well not quite) goes on sale today (well not quite – in the UK
you’l have to wait. The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic has started shipping.

The
"Comes with Music" mobile is available in selected markets worldwide
(Russia, Spain, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Finland) but not here in
Blighty, where you will have to wait until next year.

Upfront costs of the phone will by around £234, substantially less than the iPhone.

Aside
from the touchscreen, there are three physical buttons to access talk,
end call and menu functions. The 3.2-inch 640 by 360 display supports
finger and stylus operation. There is also a haptic response (it buzzes
when you touch it).

The Finnish phone company is also banging on about a drop down Mediabar, this offers one-touch access to
music, video and photos, as well as a Contacts Bar that puts four
favourite phone numbers on the screen.

It also sports
a 3.2 megapixel camera, Carl Zeiss lens, GPS, 8GB of internal memory
and a microSD slot with support for 16GB cards. There is also HSDPA,
wireless and Bluetooth.
