Video-on-demand service coming to Wii

player and the latest update to the Xbox 360 bought us movies courtesy
of Netflix. It looks from reports that Nintendo could be in line for
introducing a video service on its humble yet successful Wii.

According
to Reuters, the games console company is teaming up with Japan’s
largest advertising agency, Dentsu, to offer users of the console
original programming.

Another report in the Nikkei business daily said that programmes could
be original cartoons and other entertainment. While some titles will be
offered for nothing, others will be charged for.

Nintendo and Dentsu shall use the environment surrounding the Wii so
that living rooms with Wii-ready TVs would become more of a fun area
for communication among families and friends," the firms said in a
joint statement.

Both companies are looking for production companies to make content for the new video platform.
