Not passing up an opportunity to flog Windows Mobile-enabled
smartphones, mobile operator O2 has targeted the education market with
a new handheld device based on the HTC Advantage, the XDA Flint.
Launching at the BETT 2009 show at London Olympia, the new smartphone
has a 50inch touchscreen display (rivalling the iPod Touch but with a
640 by 480 resolution) as well as a detachable keyboard and 16GB of
internal stoarge (which can’t be upgraded).
It is quad-band with Wifi and HSDPA support, integrated GPS, Bluetooth
2.0 as well as a 3-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash.
The OS is Windows Mobile 6.1, but it is interesting to note that as
well as the awful Mobile Internet Explorer there is the much better
Opera 9.0 browser, so this should show web pages properly.
Prices likely to start at £447.
