We must admit that these latest pictures of a device purporting to be a successor to the Android-powered Google G1 mobile do look more like the real McCoy.

The original was made by HTC and it seems the relationship has continued and the new phone appears to have lost a keyboard along the way. Never mind as Google was working on a virtual keyboard.

It is also thinner and shinier than the previous model. From the photos it also looks like the new G2 will sport a 3.2-megapixel camera. The rumoured launch date is pencilled in for April this year.
