First it
was acting robots, now Japan is taking steps towards a real-life
Officer Murphy. Two companies have developed a security robot
designed to throw nets over fleeing perps, crims and general
scumbags.

The
machine is the joint project of robot firm Tmsuk and security
bods Alacom and is known as T-34. Built on wheels, it can move
at 6mph and is equipped with motion-detecting sensors.

It beams
real-time images to its controller’s mobile phone, allowing him
or her to dictate its actions.

"Security
sensors often set off false alarms but examining the location with
the robot will lead to more efficient operations," said a
statement from the companies. "Dead or alive, you’re
coming with me," said T-34.

(Okay, not
really.)
