Nokia may not have had a great Christmas (then again who didn’t?) but this
hasn’t dented the confidence of the Finnish phone giant. According to
rumours it has increased orders to chip suppliers which could mean new
touch screen models launching in the second quarter of this year.
According to reports from Taiwanese publication Digitimes,
Qualcomm, Texas Instruments (TI) and Synaptics are expected to be
beneficiaries of the increased orders as Nokia prepares to launch
several 3G and 3.5G handsets in 2009.
In the past Nokia said its new 5800 mobile device was just the start of a run of touchscreen devices it had in the works.
