Panasonic
has raised the stakes of super-fancy TV recording systems by
revealing the UK’s first model of Blu-Ray recorder to feature
twin Freesat tuners and an integrated hard drive.

The
catchily-monikered DMR-BS850 offers SD card slots as well as USB
ports, plus Firewire and BD-Live compatibility. The hard drive
clocks in at 500GB, but should you wish to save a few pennies then
there’s a downgraded version, the BS750, which offers a
still-respectable 250GB.

The twin
Freesat tuners mean that you can use one for viewing and the other
for recording, and both have Freesat+ capabilities for all your
live-TV-rewinding needs. HD comes as standard, obviously.

Both
models also work with Panasonic’s Viera Cast system, allowing
online videos to be viewed; however, this doesn’t include the
BBC’s iPlayer.

The price
hasn’t been announced yet, but rumours of a £1000 tag are
floating around. Even with such an impressive bit of kit, we can’t
see such a price doing well in current times, so it’s probably
best to take that with a pinch of salt.
