Sony Xplod car stereo MEX-BT5700UGot music? Probably got a number of ways of playing it (USB, iPod, Bluetooth). If you fancy using your car stereo, Sony’s got it covered…

Sony’s new range of Xplod car stereos, which were first shown off at CES in January, “bring the in-car audio experience to life by offering you the option to connect almost any digital music player, all from one port, letting you choose the soundtrack to any journey”.

Sony said the USB 1-wire feature means no more separate ports for different kinds of portable players, so whatever device you use, you can play any track from your music library, wherever you drive.

“It doesn’t matter music is stored on a USB memory drive, iPod, iPhone or a Walkman, all will connect through the same USB port,” a Sony suit told us.

“The USB 1-wire will also charge your digital music player when connected, and lets you can control the device from the head unit.”

The CDX-GT930UI Xplod gives you:
* CD/MP3/WMA/AAC playback
* Added security with a flip-down, detachable faceplate
* A large 4-line fluorescent display

Meanwhile, the MEX-BT5700U, MEX-BT4700U and MEX-BT3700U offer:
* Integrated Bluetooth and a built in microphone allowing you to make a hands-free call whilst driving
* Wireless music streaming from your Bluetooth mobile phone – music is paused automatically when you receive a phone call.

The MEX-BT4700U model also offers:
* A Phonebook Access Profile (PBAP) option, which will transfer your phone book information from your Bluetooth phone to its large 4-line display, all controlled through the head unit.
* Comes with an external microphone in addition to the built-in microphone.

Sony said the new car stereo models are reinforced with its original technologies to not only create superior sound quality, but help you to quickly find your favourite tracks. These include:

* DM+ Advanced: “Revitalizes your MP3 tracks by restoring these lost frequencies allowing you to hear more of your music.  You don’t need to worry about how much your music has been compressed either, as DM+ Advanced is automatically optimized for any bitrates.”
* Quick-Browser: “Helps you quickly find tracks stored on your digital music players or MP3 encoded CDs. You can search by Artist, Album, Genre, Playlist, file or folder by simply rotating the volume dial and pressing to select. Sometimes you may not be sure of what you want to listen to.”
* ZAPPIN: “One touch of the ZAPPIN button begins scanning and playing clips of your music collection so you can find that specific song to fit the mood, quickly.”

No word on prices yet, though…
