Sony has announced, not one, not two, not three – oh, hang on it is three. Yes, Sony’s collection of digital SLR cameras gained a trio of new products today when the company let loose details of its latest ‘alpha’ additions.

First up is the alpha a230, which Sony says is the world’s lightest digital SLR featuring an APS-C sized image sensor and in-body image stabilisation.

Piggy in the middle is the alpha a330, a 10.2-megapixel camera that incorporates Quick Auto Focus Live View for “responsive freestyle shooting that keeps pace with what’s happening around you”.

Apparently, this unique Sony system combines the benefits of live image preview with speedy and accurate autofocus, even with moving subjects.

Last but most certainly not least is the alpha a380, which is a 14.2-megapixel camera also incorporating the Quick Auto Focus Live View and a 2.7-inch LCD screen that tilts up or down over an extended angle range.

As well as these camera releases Sony also rolled out a number of “affordably-priced new accessories that perfectly match” the new α380, α330 and α230 models.

They include four compact interchangeable lenses and a “beautifully slim, light external flash that’s ideal for everyday shooting, family gatherings and fun-filled trips away”.

There’s also a wider choice of lifestyle-oriented accessories, “beautifully styled” to look great while they’re protecting your digital SLR.
