The blisteringly successful Nokia
6300 looks like its heading into retirement as its sucessor, the Nokia
6700 is slated for a 19 June release.

The phone is said to go on
sale that day in the UK, priced at £269 Sim-free. Of course it is more
than likely that punters will be able to pick up the phone free on a
reasonable tariff.

Nokia flagship store in London’s Regent
Street will get first dibs on selling the dog and bone around a week
before everyone else. Other retailers get to sell the handset on 26
June.

The phone itself comes with a 5-megapixel camera, A-GPS navigation with
Nokia Maps and HSDPA. Users can also share images and
videos via Nokia’s Ovi, as well as Flickr and Facebook.

Nokia UK managing director Mark Loughran
said: "The Nokia 6700 is set to be one of our biggest selling devices
for 2009. Taking its style from our premium devices and incorporating
expert functionality, it will redefine what is expected from a mid
range device, making it a very worthy successor to the Nokia 6300."
