emtec_movie_cube_p800.jpgWe know why they’ve called it the Movie Cube: the previous versions were pretty boxy. But the Movie Cube P800 has outgrown its roots when it comes to looks…

It’s effectively a hard disk drive (HDD) that stores multimedia stuff like MP3s and MPEG 4 movies. But it goes far beyond the abilities of a regular HDD.

For starters it also has a TV recording function using Freeview DVBT and Analog tuners. All the regular PVR features such as pausing live TV are naturally available.

However, the Movie Cube P800’s recording function also allows you to record any input directly onto its hard disk, including DVD or VHS.

This being the era of high definition there’s obviously a HDMI connection to offer a high transmission rate of audio/video signals.

An Ethernet port 10/100 enables data transmission in a local network and the Movie Cube can be used as a wireless gateway to access your multimedia files stored on Wi-Fi compatible PCs.

There’s even a portable 2.5-inch HDD that can be taken with you and connected to other computers.

The capacity of the P800 range goes from 160GB to 500GB, with the 500GB currently selling for £273.40 on Amazon.co.uk.

The product will be officially launched in the UK tomorrow and we’ll have more details for you then.
