dr_kawashima_brain_training.jpgIt broke a record for the longest successive charting in the Top 10 last August,
and now DS ultra-hit Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training: How Old is Your
Brain? has officially become the best-selling video game ever in the UK.

The record was confirmed when ELSPA
released its GfK Chart-Track charts for the first half of 2009. While
Wii Fit takes the top spot in both the single-format and multi-format
charts, Brain Training (which takes fourth in single-format and misses
out on multi-format) has seen steady sales that have led it to break
the three million mark. That’s an awful lot of trained brains.

(Although
it should be noted that The Sims 3 has charted despite barely being out
for a month – future competition for the Doc, perchance?)

Here’s the top ten, just for the record. (Pun not really intended.)

1. Wii Fit (Wii)
2. Wii Play (Wii)
3. Mario Kart Wii (Wii)
4. Professor Layton and the Curious Village (DS)
5. Killzone 2 (PS3)
6. Resident Evil 5 (Xbox 360)
7. Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training: How Old is Your Brain? (DS)
8. The Sims 3 (PC)
9. Call of Duty: World at War (Xbox 360)
10. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Wii)

And here’s the multi-format top ten too. Why not indeed.

1. Wii Fit (Wii)
2. FIFA 09 (Xbox 360/PS3/PSP/Wii/PS2/DS/PC)
3. Call of Duty: World at War (Xbox 360/PS3/Wii/PS2/PC/DS)
4. Resident Evil 5 (Xbox360/PS3)
5. Wii Play (Wii)
6. Mario Kart Wii (Wii)
7. Professor Layton and the Curious Village (DS)
8.Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Wii/DS)
