ofcom_logo_white.jpgOfcom has published maps showing the UK’s 3G mobile network coverage. It’s the first time coverage from the third generation network services has been mapped out in Britain.

Ofcom said that mobile network coverage in the UK is generally good but some problems persist, particularly in rural areas.

These persistent so-called "not-spot" areas will now be looked at to see if better mobile coverage can be provided.

The industry watchdog’s recent research showed that consumers are increasingly using mobile networks to access the internet on their computers via a dongle or 3G datacard.

Between February 2008 and February 2009 there were over two million new connections to mobile broadband.

The maps showing coverage across the UK by mobile networks using 3G technology can be found here (click on the PDF).
