vocalia_for_iphone.jpgWe expected to be flying around in jet cars and telling our houses to turn up the heat and make the coffee by now. While we continue to wait for those things, at least we can now ask Apple’s iPhone to search for songs from the iTunes library by saying the artist or group name.

Vocalia 2.0 users can also import their bookmarks from their Mac to their iPhone or iPod Touch, and then ask Vocalia to open them in Safari.

The software works in English, French and German and additional languages will be available within a few weeks. A list of commands can be found here.

New features in version 2.0 will allow those owning an iPhone v1, 3G or a second generation iPod Touch to have access to speech recognition features like on the iPhone 3GS.

Proximity sensing also improves speech recognition results in noisy environments.

The update is free for current Vocalia users and for a very limited time the software is available for $3.99 (£2.45) – discounted from $5.99 – on the App Store.
