Asda slashes PS3 price

There are rumours flying around lately of a redesigned “PS3 Slim” due to hit imminently. Such rumours are being fuelled by retailers in France, Sweden and the US dropping the price of the PlayStation 3. And now Asda’s getting in on the act.

Pop down to an appropriate store and you can pick up an 80GB PS3 with a copy of Terminator Salvation, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines on Blu-ray, and your choice of Ghostbusters the Videogame or Infamous for £250.

Speaking to gamesindustry.biz, an Asda spokesperson said that “the offer would continue until stock ran out as Sony was thought to be discontinuing the model.”

Sony is hosting a press conference in Cologne this evening, and the PSN is being taken offline at the exact same time (between 5-7 p.m.).  Quite frankly, we’d be surprised if we didn’t know of a redesigned machine by the end of the day.
