What with Microsoft’s red ring of death and Sony’s problem that wasn’t but could be but probably isn’t (we guess it does have a problem with BBC’s Watchdog) you would think that Nintendo was sitting pretty with a reliable Wii. But does it?
According to reports from Eurogamer, Nintendo is looking set to fix problems that came with the upgrade to its latest firmware 4.2. The gaming company said it would move to fix problems in North America and UK free of charge.
The problems are minimal however and users mainly affected are those who have tampered with consoles to play homebrew games.
“We are aware of a very small number of reported problems with Wii consoles after updating to the Wii System Menu 4.2. The symptoms described usually occur when a Wii console has been modified. However, there are a very small number of people reporting problems when a system has never been modified,” read a statement.
“If anyone is experiencing problems with their Wii console after downloading Wii System Menu 4.2, and believe their system has not been modified, please contact our customer service centre.”
