Sennheiser_PXC250-II_TravelSennheiser PXC250-II. OK, so not as catchy a name as Mad Max II, but Sennheiser says its latest cans “build on the heritage of the successful PXC 250 travel headphones” thanks to improved NoiseGard technology.

“This effectively reduces engine noise, rumbling train sounds and other ambient noise, all that remains is perfect sound quality and an opportunity to completely relax,” a Sennheiser bod told us.

What you’re left with is a “powerful, detailed sound” with a frequency response from 10 to 21,000Hz – thanks to the PXC 250-II’s high-performing neodymium magnets.

Sennheiser said its patented NoiseGard technology has been used in international air travel for years, where it affords pilots better overall concentration while reducing fatigue.

“The principle behind the technology is that tiny microphones – which are located in the headphone ear cups – pick up sound from the vicinity, analyze it and then electronically produce anti-noise,” the Sennheiser spokesman continued.

The PXC 250-II includes:
* A special adapter for in-flight entertainment systems
* 4.6ft cable
* Convenient volume control integrated
into the NoiseGard processor
* Up to 50 hours of battery life from just one AAA battery
* Folding design, so the headphone can be stored flat
* Metal reinforced headband with soft padding on the inside
* Carrying pouch, including enough space to hold a small MP3 player.

The Sennheiser PXC250-II travel headphone costs $259.95 (around £167).
