apple_iphone_3gIf you thought having one of Steve Job’s smartphones was going to get you ladies then think again. It turns out that a survey that revealed that over half of women would date an iPhone-owning man was a fake.

The survey found that 54 per cent of females would go out with a man should they be in possession of an Apple phone. But according to Phones4U, which was thought to have carried out the survey, the company had nothing to do with the survey and branded it a fake.

The poll of 1500 women had the phone company issue a statement to Mobile Entertainment saying “the press release was not issued by Phones4u and is factually incorrect.”

“The release is not legitimate or correct, and to reiterate, was not issued by Phones 4u,” says the spokesperson. “We’re currently trying to track down the culprit that issued it!”

The press were duped into believing the survey to be real as it was issued on PRNewswire

According to reports from TechCrunch, the people responsible were Phones4U digital marketing agency, StickyEyes.

“We’ve now established that Phones 4u’s Digital Marketing agency, StickyEyes, this morning issued a press release on behalf of Phones 4u without Phones 4u’s knowledge, consent or approval. StickyEyes conducted research via a third party, again without prior consent from Phones 4u and issued a press release detailing its findings without Phones 4u’s knowledge,” explained Phones4U.

So there you have it guys. Just stick to pretending to be rich in other ways.
