Perhaps yesterday wasn’t a good day to launch a new phone (unless of course you are Apple and you have a new iPhone), so you could be forgiven for not noticing that Motorola has a new Android-powered phone out.

The Motorola Milestone XT720 is only a tiny upgrade on the current offering from the company. Compare that with the differences between the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4 and you wonder why it bothered at all.

The Milestone (or Droid as it is known stateside) was launched last November and the update ditches the keyboard. The camera upgrades to eight megapixels from five and gets a Xenon flash instead of a duel LED one. And, er, that’s about it.

Compared with the feature updates to iPhone 4 (see this link on what’s new in iPhone 4) and you will see there is nothing to see, move along now.

If you still care, here are a few more specs.  It comes with 8GB of native storage, a 32GB compatible microSD slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Oh yeah, it doesn’t seem to ship with MotoBLUR (which may be a good thing if you want to update to Froyo).

No doubt it will be available from the likes of Xpansys.com, play.com and Clove from 11 June.
