ebay_logoeBay has launched new auction sites in Finland, Hungary and Portugal, bumping up its number of potential buyers and sellers by an additional 25 million people.

eBay said the key benefits for other international sellers would be the chance to increase their sales to the new locations and also to target specific markets, as buyers generally look for products that cannot be found locally or are more expensive in their own country.

Meanwhile, buyers in those countries will benefit from an eBay site and customer support in their local language – although seller’s item titles and descriptions will not be translated. However, prices will be converted into local currency.

“Earlier in 2010 eBay opened sites in Russia, the Czech Republic, Greece, Denmark, Sweden and Norway,” said an official eBay statement.

“Since then, over eight million items have been bought from these markets and the number of customers continues to grow rapidly. The most popular item categories in these new markets are Fashion, Consumer Electronics and Auto Parts.”

There are a few provisos though: the eBay International Market will use PayPal as the only accepted form of payment and only fixed-price items will be included.
