Apple has unveiled a new pair of laptops that crib functions from The Bestest Gadget Ever™, the iPad.
The MacBook Air lives up to its floaty title with a weight of 2.9lb and a thickness running from 0.11 inches at its thinnest to 0.68 inches at its thickest. It offers a 13.3 inch 1440×900 pixels LED screen, but otherwise is pretty similar to the MacBook: a 1.86GHz Core 2 Duo CPU, 2GB Nvidia Geforce 320M, multitouch trackpad and a webcam.
Apple’s chosen to give it a flash memory rather than a conventional hard drive because it’s more reliable, offers instant-on capability, and, of course, is lighter and smaller.
The battery should give you 7 hours real-life or up to 30 days standby battery life.
The two models – one with 128GB storage, the other with 256GB – are available from Apple’s online store now, priced at £1099 and £1349 respectively.
