Griffin, famed for making accessories for Apple devices (although it does make products for others as well), opened the doors to its new retail outlet at the Westfield centre in Stratford, overlooking the Olympic park.

The opening co-incides with the firm’s 20th birthday and Absolute Gadget was invited for a personal tour of the new shop. Griffin started life in Nashville, Tennessee, but have chosen the UK to site their first ever store.

The new outlet will be a good way for the firm to test products on customers. If the store is a success, it could lead to Griffin rolling out a chain of stores worldwide. The store is expected to pay for itself in terms of sales by Christmas.

“The opening of our very first store celebrates a huge milestone for Griffin Technology. We have been leading the way in developing innovative and ground-breaking accessories for the past 20 years,” said Mark Rowan, President of Griffin Technology.

“This store will allow us to share our vision and our products with consumers’ first-hand. And, with the spotlight very much focused on London and the 2012 Olympics, there’s no better place to unveil our very first store than at Westfield, Stratford City. We will also be launching a number of new products exclusively at the store, so we are able to monitor consumer’s reactions and feedback, before the products are launched to market elsewhere.”

The store has an updated range from Griffin that includes the StudioConnect midi controller for Apple’s Garageband on iPad, the WoodTones earphones that are eco-friendly and are made from reclaimed wood, and Col. Littleton line of leather cases, satchels and bags. The store includes an indoor space for testing out their Helo TC remote controlled helicopter range and a motorised 12 foot drop chute to test their Survivor cases.

The store can be found on the middle level of the shopping mall next to the Samsung store. For more info, click here.
