Another 32 stations on the London Underground have roll-out Wi-Fi access bring up the total so far to 38, Transport for London announced.

In time for the London 2012 games, the Virgin Media sponsored initiative will see 120 stations get wireless by the end of the year.

The service began a couple of weeks ago week six stations were brought online, including Oxford Circus and Leicester Square. Another 46 are to come this summer mostly where Games visitors might travel, central and east London, as well as Heathrow.

The stations that have internet access are grouped in central London, including Brixton, Southfields and West Hame. Stratford, the station closest to the Olympic Park, has service too, as do all the major London terminii (King’s Cross, Paddington, Victoria, Euston and Waterloo). A notable except is London Bridge.

TfL has released a map (PDF) listing which stations now have operational Wi-Fi and those ‘under construction’. While the service is free over the summer while the Olympics is underway, Virgin Media will start charging later this year.

All we need now is wi-fi on the tube trains themselves and maybe a spot of air-conditioning to make the rush hour commute run a bit more smoothly and a lot less sweatier!
