Frustrated would-be Nexus 4 owners have only LG to blame for the delay in getting their hands on the latest Google-powered smartphone, according to Google’s UK chief.

Google’s United Kingdom and Ireland Managing Director Dan Cobley wrote on his Google+ profile that shortages were down to the manufacturer, in this case LG.

“I know that what you are going through is unacceptable and we are all working through the nights and weekends to resolve this issue,” wrote Cobley. “Supplies from the manufacturer are scarce and erratic, and our communication has been flawed.”

The phone was originally launched back in October but has been harder than hen’s teeth to find, leaving owners fuming and having no phone in order to ring up and complain about having no phone.

He said sorry for the delay in shipments and said that telling customers about the delay through these channels “is not how we should be communicating with our customers.”

“For those that originally received a 3-5 days shipping estimate, your orders are now in process for fulfilment,” wrote Cobley. “You can expect an email notification early this week which will include tracking information. Although you will be initially charged in full, you will receive a credit for the shipping charge soon after.”

“I realise that the people who ordered the Nexus 4 so early are among our most committed and loyal users and we are doing all we can to put things right,” said Cobley.

With any luck the Android phones should be with customers before Christmas!!!

Update: The blog post on Google+ has now been removed=, further deepening the mystery.
