The YouView range of set-top boxes has increased with two new boxes from Humax and Huawei.

The Humax YouView set-top box (DTR-T1010/2TB) has a 2TB internal storage, allowing viewers to store up to 1,200 hours of SD recordings or 500 hours in HD recordings. The box is available now at £300.

The Huawei YouView+ DN371T set-top box on the other hand has 500GB of internal storage, allowing for 300 hours of SD recordings or 125 hours of HD shows. The Huawei YouView+ DN371T can be bought for £220.

Both offer 70 free digital TV and radio channels. YouView offers a range of quality content via on demand players from Dave, Yesterday and Really imagined by UKTV, Now TV, Sky Store, milkshake!, S4C and STV.

The boxes can be bought as standalone products where you can access YouView+ without having to subscribe to the TalkTalk or BT TV subscription package.

Both work with the YouView app that allows users to control and record content from a smartphone or tablet.

Graham North, Commercial Director at Humax, commented: “Having plenty of storage capacity can be vital for larger households, where demand for a wide range of shows, series and films means frequent battles over what to keep and delete. Now with 2TB of recording space, the new DTR-T1010 solves any recording issues, while providing all the rich features of the YouView service at your fingertips.”

“Huawei’s technology has been at the centre of the developments in British television viewing driven by YouView, via a hugely successful strategic partnership with TalkTalk,” said Mark Mitchinson, Executive VP of Huawei UK and Ireland. “We are therefore thrilled to be launching our own set-top box, which includes cutting-edge innovations to personal video recording technology and will play a key role in bringing YouView+ to the widest possible audience by offering a completely subscription free option for consumers.”

David Faulkner, Head of Corporate and Business Development, YouView said, “We are focused on offering a simple and easy to use TV service and we’re pleased that even more programme storage is now available to customers who enjoy using the record functionality on YouView.”
