The data roaming service will cost just £3 for a 100MB of data in a 24 hour period, according to the firm.

Customers on 4GEE Extra plans also get unlimited roaming minutes and texts to select countries as part of their plan. 4GEE Extra customers also enjoy speeds of approximately 60Mbps in twenty cities in the UK, as well as data bundles, inclusive texts and minutes, as well as a fast-track customer services option.

“Whether it’s working on the move, social networking, using maps, or just finding a great place to eat in an unknown city, our customers will now benefit from the same superfast and reliable mobile experience at home and overseas.”

EE has also been  named best British mobile operator in an independent study of mobile performance across the UK by mobile analytics firm RootMetrics.

The operator came first in just about every category, including call quality, mobile internet, text, network reliability and network speed

RootMetrics chief executive and president Bill Moore said: “These results give UK consumers and businesses the most accurate view of mobile performance in the UK that has ever been made available.

“From nation to neighbourhood, people now have access to data showing them the best network in their area. No other study of this size and scale for mobile performance has ever been carried out before in the UK, and it has, for the first time, shown consumers the true services they are receiving from their network provider.”
