Good news for serial hashtag abusers: Twitter’s launching two new features.
A group messaging service will allow tweeters to carry out a multi-person conversation in private rather than public, essentially widening the net of the site’s Direct Messaging option. The group’s members don’t all need to follow each other to chat.
Meanwhile, a new video camera function allows users to capture, edit and share 30-second videos directly from the Twitter app. “In just a few taps you can add a video to unfolding conversations, share your perspective of a live event, and show your everyday moments instantly, without ever having to leave the app,” said a Twitter representative in a blog post, possibly while covertly flicking the Vs under the table at Vine executives.
iPhone users will also be able to upload videos from their camera roll. This feature is planned for Android tweeters too, but hasn’t been implemented yet.
We’d like to take this opportunity to suggest that Stephen Fry heartily abuses the new powers by posting one video clip per word until he’s read out the whole dictionary. Go on.
