Sony has outlined what the next big update of the PlayStation 4 will offer players: quite a lot, as it happens.

The 3.00 update, codenamed Kenshin, offers as its most immediate and obvious perk a huge increase in cloud storage from 1GB to 10GB.

A new events hub will also be added, allowing you to see an overview of activities taking place in your most-played games, such as a double-XP weekend, seasonal skins or a special enemy popping up at a scheduled time.

Show-offs will also be able to stream gameplay live to YouTube, with streams being visible on YouTube itself and the new YouTube Gaming app/website. Video clips of 10 seconds can be uploaded to Twitter, too.

Another major addition is Favourite Groups, which lets you collect people you frequently game with in one place. Sony’s hoping this will make setting up groups for an online match quicker. (It’s almost like there’s a major new raft of Destiny content on the way, or something.)

In a move that reminds us of Nintendo’s Miiverse, gamers will also be able to create communities dedicated to specific games or genres, with attached message boards.

Head to the PlayStation Blog for a fuller rundown. A launch date for the update remains a mystery as yet.
