We all know what a mouse looks like but are they ergonomic enough? The Penclic B3 mouse is a mouse that looks more like a pen and is designed for both left and right-handed users.

From Swedish firm Penclic, the B3 is a wireless version of its popular ergonomic mouse. It’s both Mac & PC compatible and comes with a two-year warranty.

It recharges on your computer’s USB port and the scroll wheel located in the middle of the pen’s shaft. The scroll wheel also doubles as the middle click button, which not only eases the transition period when adjusting to this uniquely-designed, laser-focused alternative but also makes the mouse easier to operate for ambidextrous users. The buttons are easy to use.

Penclic’s innovative pen grip mice create a relaxed and natural working position and counteract health problems like Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI), obtained from using a traditional computer mouse, claim the manufacturers.

It looks, feels and moves like a pen. However, it can be easy to accidentally push down on both the right and left buttons simultaneously as they are very close together. With its five meter range, I wasn’t kept to a specific area and was able to navigate from a short distance.

Charging the included battery took approximately 1hr 30 minutes from being completely dead and the device can continue being used while connected.

Overall, the Penclic B3 mouse is great for anyone that suffers from RSI, however, surface accuracy is below average and the cursor sensitivity is too high. The button location makes it difficult to grip without accidentally clicking on items.  It probably wouldn’t replace your stylus and digitiser if you’re already using one, but for design work on a budget, this is a good option.

The Penclic B3 mouse is available from Posturite for £80.
