Sony has finally put the PS4 Pro on sale in the UK today and claims to offer the best gaming experience in the world.

The games console is capable of displaying supported titles at a higher resolution and frame rate. But should you buy it?

Sony PS4 Pro: Release date

The PlayStation 4 Pro went on sale on Thursday 10 November. If you want the Microsoft’s next-gen Project Scorpio 4K gamer, you will have to wait another year.

Sony PS4 Pro: Price

The PS4 Pro will retail at £349 in the UK ($399 in the States). Cheaper than standard PS4 not too long ago. You can buy it here from Amazon.

Sony PS4 Pro: Design

The PS4 Pro looks similar to its new slimmer sibling, but sports rounded corners and is bigger to fit in all that shiny new tech. It measures 295 x 55 x 327mm, which is even bigger than the original model and weighs an enormous 3.3kg.

On the bottom of the new console, Sony has used PlayStation symbols (Square, Circle, Cross and Triangle) as feet.

Sony PS4 Pro: Games

The PS4 Pro will be able to play any games meant for the previous version of the PS4 and going forward, it will continue to do so. There will be a Pro mode for games which should see enhanced graphics, higher framerate or an increased resolution coming to the high-end console. Gamers with the new console will see if a game can be played in the new enhanced mode by looking for a special “PS4 Pro Enhanced” badge.

Sony PS4 Pro: Controllers

The PS4 Pro comes with redesigned DualShock 4 controllers. While the design of these controllers is fundamentally the same as the first-gen DualShock 4 controllers, they come with one huge change – a small light bar on the touch-sensitive panel of the controller.

Sony PS4 Pro: Should I upgrade?

The PS4 Pro is really only worth buying if you have a TV capable of serving 4K resolution and high dynamic range (HDR) content. If you are sticking with your old telly, you really don’t need it.
