While the rest of the world fell in love with Dyson vacuums and their bagless technology, there is one undeniably British company that has been quietly making and selling vacuum cleaners for decades: Numatic. Its most iconic vacuum is the Henry.

There are over 10 million Henrys made, and most are still in use today. Typically found in the classic red, it’s just one of 12 diverse Henry hoovers on the market. There are other models available. These include the Henry Cordless, the Henry Extra, and the Hetty.

It’s quick and simple to unload the Henry Hoover, and it took us just a few minutes to put everything together. To assemble the Henry, you just attach the wand to the main body and the cleaning head to the wand.

While we were imagining getting a hefty lump of a vacuum, we were pleasantly surprised by the size of it. It weighs about seven kilos and comes with all the bits you need to make light work of clearing the house. Henry’s flexible toolkit includes Combi Floor Tool, Dusting Tool, Crevice Tool, and Brush & Mattress Tool. The Crevice Tool is great for getting into nooks and crannies and the Dusting Tool is ideal for delicate surfaces, like shelves, ornaments, and picture frames. For smaller surfaces, such as the stairs, sofa, and in the car, Henry’s Upholstery Tool is top-notch. Plus, remove the brush for optimum results when cleaning the mattress.

It has a capacity up to x5 bigger than many bagless vacuums; it has a six-litre capacity. The Henry vacuum comes with a bag inside ready to be used. There are also spare bags, usually at least two, which can be used to replace full bags. The HVR160 model uses Numatic’s new HepaFlo bags. These have self-seal tabs which keep all the dust and debris within the bag itself. This means the dust will not escape out into the house and the immediate environment. The dust bags can be easily replaced with no mess and leakage.

One of the most noticeable changes in the Henry HVR 160 model is the large decrease in the motor’s energy usage when compared to the Henry HVR200. The 620W motor marks Henry as one of the most efficient vacuum cleaners to buy today. It creates more than enough suction to pick up every visible dirt and debris.

One big advantage of the HVR160 model is the extra-long 10m cable. This cable is stored snugly inside the machine.

It’s a satisfactory performer across all floor types, with an outstanding range of cleaning and reach. It is easily the best vacuum for picking up dirt and dust. This leaves carpets looking new and the pile back to how it was originally.

We found this compact model of the Henry Hoover extremely convenient for household vacuuming. Its features make the vacuum easy to use, store and access. The affordable price tag makes this a vacuum to buy.
